Administration on Aging Program Instructions

The Aging Network: Program Instructions

A PI provides instructions to states on required activities such as state plans, reports, etc. This form of guidance may include due dates and specific formats for submitting information.

Program Instruction Template

ACL seeks public input on the template to be used for the development of the PI entitled Guidance for the Development and Submission of State Plans on Aging, State Plan Amendments and the Intrastate Funding Formula.

To be eligible to receive a formula grant under Section 307 (a) of the Older Americans Act (OAA) of 1965, as amended, each State Unit on Aging (SUA) is required to develop a State Plan on Aging that conforms to requirements and priorities outlined by the Assistant Secretary for Aging. States receive guidance on the development of their State Plans on Aging via an annual Program Instruction (PI) entitled Guidance for the Development and Submission of State Plans on Aging, State Plan Amendments and the Intrastate Funding Formula.

ACL is currently seeking public comment, through a notice in the Federal Register, on a template that will be used by ACL Central Office and Regional Office staff to develop the Program Instruction. When completed annually by ACL/AoA staff, the template presented here for comment (PDF, 142KB) will yield a Program Instruction containing the necessary information states need to develop and submit their state plans on aging.
