View ACL's National Disability Employment Awareness Month Celebration Webcast at 2 pm ET

November 1, 2017

Please join ACL for a National Disability Employment Awareness Month panel discussion spotlighting employment achievements of professional baseball players with disabilities.

View the live webcast today (also live captioned) at 2 pm ET.

It will also be available for replay at a later date.

You can also see live updates on ACL's Twitter handle or by following #NDEAM.

In-person registration is now full.

More details about the event:

ACL Administrator Lance Robertson and Jennifer Sheehy, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Office on Disability Employment Policy at the Department of Labor, will speak and jointly moderate a panel that includes:

  • Curtis Pride and Jim Eisenreich, former baseball players with disabilities
  • Mark O’Neal, PBATS President and Director of Athletic Training for the Chicago Cubs
  • Mark Odum, Vice President at HeiTech Services, Inc. and project director for NIDILRR’s National Rehabilitation Information Center

Discussion topics will include players’ experiences with accommodations, obstacles (and how they overcame them), mentors, and the like; how employers and industries can become more inclusive – and what they’re missing by excluding people with disabilities; and the importance of challenging misconceptions.

We hope you can join us as we celebrate baseball’s rich history of promoting disability inclusion, challenge assumptions about the limitations of people with disabilities, and talk about how we can increase expectations and eliminate barriers to employment for people with disabilities.

Together, we can make sure talent isn’t left sitting on the bench!
