Webinar: Learning about Independent Practice Associations

April 24, 2018

Register for April 25 webinar.

When working with integrated care systems, community-based organizations (CBOs) may find it beneficial to work collaboratively with other CBOs in a way that allows them to build on one another’s strengths and better position them to meet the needs of integrated care payers. There are a variety of ways to structure this type of collaboration, including Independent Practice Associations (IPAs).

An Independent Practice Association brings together a group of independent CBOs or providers that individually provide services to the organizations responsible for the payment and coordination of long-term services and supports, such as managed care organizations. Working together through an IPA, CBOs maintain their independence and unique value proposition, while benefiting from the greater efficiency, cost-sharing, risk reduction, and negotiating power obtained through the association.

Please join the HCBS Business Acumen Center on April 25 at 12:30 PM Eastern for a one-hour webinar. Marvin Lindsey with Community Behavioral Healthcare Association of Illinois and Ray DeNatle from Innovative Resources for Independence in New York will share their experiences about developing and participating in IPAs in their states.

Participants in this webinar will:

  • Understand the basics of Independent Practice Associations, including the pros and cons offered to CBOs;
  • Learn about the reasons for forming an IPA and the benefits it might offer; and
  • Explore the challenges, successes, and lessons learned while developing and implementing an IPA.

Register for the webinar.

Note: This webinar is available as part of the Disability Business Acumen grant from the Administration for Community Living to NASUAD in collaboration with nine national partners.
